Snowmobiling is an exhilarating and yet accessible way to experience the vast Arctic wilderness, far more easily than on foot. While it may sound extreme to first-timers, the experience is surprisingly beginner-friendly and an effortless way to immerse yourself in the striking landscapes of Finnish Lapland.
Picture this: You’re speeding across the Arctic tundra on a snowmobile, and the snowy landscape stretches endlessly around you. The snow softens the sound of the motors as you ride over the open plains of a frozen lake. Ahead, the rounded slope of a fell rises against the deepening blue of the winter horizon. There is nothing but nature, the quiet, and you.
All you have to do is step outside the doors of Kelo Resort, hop on a snowmobile, and you’ll find yourself already deep in winter nature!

What to Wear When Snowmobiling?
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.
There is a cozy comfort in being bundled up in warm layers as you speed through open plains, snow swirling around in cloudy puffs of white. As the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.
So, before heading out, having the right gear for sub-zero temperatures is essential. For snowmobiling guests, Kelo Resort provides a full set of winter clothing designed for Arctic conditions: thermal overalls, woollen socks, insulated boots, mittens, a balaclava, and a helmet. All the clothes are made from soft, wind-resistant, and warm material: ideal for time spent outdoors in the cold.

A Daytime Snowmobile Safari
The easiest way to discover snowmobiling is a safari that leads you through the breathtaking landscapes of Pallas Fell. During this two-hour daytime adventure, you will enjoy the wintery outdoors at a relaxed pace, making it suitable for first-time drivers. Midway through the ride, there is a break to warm up with a hot drink and a sweet snack.
A snowmobile is a motorised vehicle designed for traveling over snow and ice with skis in the front. In snowy regions like Lapland, locals use snowmobiles for both practical transportation and a winter recreational hobby. They range from lightweight, recreational models to powerful machines capable of speeds over 140 km per hour, and they are sometimes used in rescue operations.

Ride Through Wild Fells
For those seeking a longer adventure across plains and forests, we offer a four-hour Wild Fells Tour in the Pallas Fell region. With a few extra hours, you get to know the true wilderness of Lapland. The journey takes you through snowy landscapes, with opportunities to capture photos for memories and enjoy a hearty lunch by a crackling open fire.
All snowmobiling excursions begin with a safety instruction session. The instructor will guide you through driving techniques and provide an overview of what to expect during the ride. All instructors are experienced guides, and instructions are provided in English. Drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a type B driving license, and all participants must be over 15.

A Nighttime Hunt for the Northern Lights
What better way to hunt for the Northern Lights than on a snowmobile? Glide away from the lights of Kelo Resort and nearby villages into the heart of the wilderness, under the dancing auroras. A guide will lead you deep into the Arctic landscape, where quiet and stillness surround you. Riding through the darkness, your path is illuminated by thousands of stars in the winter sky. The experience is simply magical!
