WELCOME TO KELO RESORT

Inspired By Nature

At Kelo, you experience the true essence of Lapland – nature, silence and presence. Things that cannot be rushed or replicated. The surrounding, untouched wilderness inspires and guides everything that is Kelo.

Located on the edge of Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, we are surrounded by some of the world’s cleanest air and deepest quiet. At Kelo, nature doesn’t require a journey – it begins right outside your door. Here, the sky is truly dark, and the stars and northern lights shine with remarkable clarity.

Kelo is a boutique resort for those who value calm, space and meaningful moments. Here, you can slow down far from the noise and crowds of the city. Some say this is where Lapland’s original magic can still be felt.

Kelo is a state of mind that keeps calling you back.

New resort with a remote and stunning location away from mass tourism. Location is unbeatable! The resort is obviously in its early stage of opening, service needs some improvement. Focus on long stay package guests is obvious. Breakfast is great with many options. Dinner well prepared, but overpriced, small portions. Sauna was a bit of disappointment, considering we are in Finland. Charging 120eur for 1,5 hour in a tiny house, with no access to lake dip - no go. I am big fan of sauna, but chose to skip this one. Snowmobiling tour with Reetha was great experience. Smiling and enthusiastic guide! For our first short visit of Lapland, this accommodation was right choice for us. We enjoyed the nature and calmness. And not least we were lucky to see auroras !

Niina and her team are doing a fantastic job - thank you for a very memorable stay, the sense of hospitality is exceptional. Rooms and food are great. The location is quite remote but fantastic to enjoy nature at it’s finest on the edge of a national park! The chances of seeing the aurora here are very high! Definitely recommended!

Wow! What a lovely place. We have just spent a week here doing the Arctic Week of Wonders and can thoroughly recommend it. The staff are so fantastic and very friendly and helpful. The resort is pristine and very comfortable, the landscape around is utterly beautiful too. As a keen photographer, it definitely rates as one of the very best places to see the Northern Lights in our experience. The forests of the National Park are very easy to get to on foot. Many local people work here too.

We stayed at Kelo Resort at the beginning of February 2026 and had an absolutely extraordinary vacation! The Kelo Resort is super cozy and very clean. The staff is incredibly friendly and warm. You always feel welcome with any request.

Unfortunately, I got sick during our stay, and the staff did everything possible to make sure I could get to a doctor and a pharmacy, even though they are about an hour’s drive from the hotel.
At this point, I highly recommend having good travel health insurance!

The food was also fantastic.
The tours we booked were amazing! Driving a Husky-Slegh by your own is a once in a livetime expirience.
We would especially like to thank Eirini (tour guide), who accompanied us on all the tours. You are amazing!

All in all, a 10 out of 10 experience!
But make sure to check prices in advance… you are in Finland, not Egypt 😉

We had a fantastic stay at Kelo. The location is gorgeous and remote. The lodge is comfortable and cozy, the food was exquisite - especially the reindeer! The activities were small/intimate and our god Diego was so friendly and enthusiastic, taking us on small detours to show us the beauty of Lapland. The rooms are small but have everything you need.

Just had the most wonderful 5 night stay at the Kelo Resort in Raatama. All the staff made you feel very welcome. The food was outstanding michelin star quality. The food way surpassed our expectations! We had some wonderful trips organised by Nina Hilarto the general manager and Reeta who were both very attentive! and to top it all we got to see the northern lights in full 3 nights out of 5 which was magical! We can't wait to go back!

Stunning Location in Lapland

Kelo Resort is tucked away in the quiet village of Yli-Kyrö, embraced by the untouched landscapes of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park – one of Finland’s largest national parks. Snow blankets the landscape for around 200 days each year, and the northern lights can be seen on up to 200 nights annually. At Kelo, you experience Lapland’s nature at its most authentic.

We arrange transfers from Kittilä and Rovaniemi airport as well as from Kolari train station, which makes us easy to reach for everyone.

The story of Kelo

In the summer of 2024, a group of entrepreneurs united by their love for Lapland and its nature learned that the historic Vuontispirtti was for sale. They saw the area’s potential and the possibility of a new beginning – shaped by responsibility and deep respect for both history and the surrounding environment.

Our company’s name comes from the kelo pine, an icon of Lapland’s forests. The kelo timber used in the construction of our hotel symbolises everything we cherish at Kelo: permanence, authenticity and respect for nature. This is how the name Kelo Resort was born.

The renewed hotel opened on 1 November 2025 as a full-service boutique resort.
